Are you interested in learning how to use your wheelchair more effectively? Participate in the TEAM Wheels research study on manual wheelchair use!
TEAM Wheels is a 4-week program to enhance manual wheelchair mobility skills and improve community participation. Participants in the program will have 1-on-1 time with a peer trainer to provide training and expertise in your home or community.
What is involved while participating in this program?
- Participate in a free, 4 week at-home training program on a provided computer tablet for 1 month.
- Training program involves 3 online visits with a peer trainer.
- Program contains 150 video-based training components including instruction, peer demonstration, and practice activities and games.
- Participants asked to practice at home for 10-20 minutes per day (total of 75-100 minutes per week)
- Participant will be asked to complete 2-3 online questionnaires before and after the training program.
Who is eligible to participate?
- Be 18 years of age or older
- Use a manual wheelchair
- Be able to propel your wheelchair with both arms
- Be able to understand training material in English
- Not be receiving wheelchair skills training elsewhere
- Available to participate for 4 weeks with a time commitment of 10-20 minutes per day (a total of 75-100 minutes per week)
